Engaging parents in their children's learning
The Classroom Monitor team are working hard in preparation for the 2010 (for secondary) or 2012 (for primary) deadline for online reporting to parents (details can be found here).
Using Classroom Monitor it will be possible to provide parents access to: progress, attainment, attendance and behaviour, as per a school’s statutory requirements for real time reporting to parents.
However, online reporting to parents is an opportunity to offer so much more, true parental engagement in their children’s learning – access for parent and pupil at home to the pupil’s current targets and steps to help them achieve them. Real time reporting to parents should mean that we can provide so much more than just statistics to parents but it needs to be manageable.
At Classroom Monitor, our online reporting module will not add to workload of teachers. Draft reports to parents will come from their ongoing assessment (APP assessments, EYFS assessments etc) and parents will be able to see detailed information on:
- Pupil progress – showing how well their child is doing according to their targets,
- A gallery of evidence and achievements (photos, videos etc),
- Strengths & weaknesses
- Targets – parents and pupils can see targets set by teachers and access recommended online activities to help them achieve those targets.
Alongside the statutory requirements these 5 areas will ensure that your parents are engaged in their children’s learning and parent, pupil and teacher are all working together. This module will be released in 2010 – for more details please contact us.
